I have been using an older dial scale for many many years with inconsistent results, as much as 5-6 pounds every time I used it. This scale is very consistent, always within a tenth of a pound. It also is consistent with the scales at the doctors office. I love the bold numbers and blue light. Thanks for a great product!
Tapping doesn't work! - Cynthia -
I've had this scale for two or three weeks now. Neither my husband or I can get it to turn on the way it's supposed to, with a gentle tap of the heel on the surface of the scale. Instead we have to bang it so hard that it lifts up and produces an 888 or error message first. Contrary to many of the reviews here, I have not found the scale to be particularly consistent. Also, although the default setting was supposed to be in pounds, the scale we received was set to show the weight in kilos. It looks nice and doesn't cost much -- hence my rating of three. If you are determined to buy this item, I would recommend purchasing it at a store like Sears so that you can return it easily if necessary.

I was so excited to receive this scale, after all the positive reviews! And it definitely looks nice, has a sleek, slim design, and a great back-light feature. Unfortunately, after calibrating, the scale varies widely in the weight given, even when I stand on it the course of a few minutes. It varies by close to 5 pounds, which is a big difference, actually, in such a short time period.
When I move the scale to another location, and allow it to recalibrate, the same thing happens. A number much different from what I weighed in the previous location appears and - when stepping off and then back on - I get yet another number that is 3-4 pounds different from before.
I contacted Amazon to exchange this item for another scale, thinking this one must just be defective and - be warned - they told me they could only process a refund because the total inventory of this item was "constantly changing." So now I'm sending the scale back for a refund, and am back to the drawing board looking for a reliable digital scale. Major bummer!
